Top Rated Clinic Experience
I had lower back fusion and have consistent numbness in my feet. With just 2 treatments I already have noticed some pain relief.
Maria COur experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been very positive. From day one, we have found the team to be professional, punctual, and always willing to help. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and provides a welcoming and comfortable environment. Whenever we have had questions or concerns, they have taken the time to answer them with patience and care. They have also been very supportive and understanding when circumstances made it difficult for us to complete a session, helping us find solutions whenever possible. My son is on the autism spectrum, and while we understand that his progress is the result of multiple therapies, interventions, and the dedication of everyone involved in his care, we have noticed encouraging changes since starting hyperbaric therapy. He appears more confident, more self-assured, and more precise when speaking and expressing his thoughts. We view hyperbaric therapy as an important complement to his overall treatment plan and believe it has contributed positively to improvements in some of his symptoms. Every child is different and results may vary, but our experience has been very encouraging. We are grateful for the professionalism, dedication, and genuine care shown by the entire team. I highly recommend this center to families considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of a comprehensive approach to supporting their child’s development.
Magbis SosaI had an excellent experience at Hyperbaric MD Staten Island. The facility is clean, professional, and welcoming, and the staff made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. Christina and the team took the time to explain the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I started treatments to support recovery, healing, and overall wellness, and I've been extremely impressed with the level of care I received. The chambers are comfortable, appointments run on time, and the entire team is knowledgeable and attentive. If you're looking for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, HBOT for recovery, wound healing, post-surgical healing, athletic recovery, or general wellness, I highly recommend this center. Their professionalism, expertise, and commitment to patient care truly set them apart. Five stars all around!

Preparing for Treatment
Frequently asked questions before your first visit.
What is Medical-Grade HBOT?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a proven treatment that enhances healing by flooding the body with oxygen. Used for over 100 years, it supports brain health, anti-aging, athletic recovery, and medical conditions by boosting oxygen in blood, tissues, and organs. Patients breathe 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, accelerating recovery and promoting cellular repair.
What conditions can be treated with HBOT?
HBOT is FDA-approved for 14 conditions like burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, and non-healing wounds. Emerging research also supports its use for post-surgical recovery, brain injury, fatigue, inflammation, athletic recovery, and anti-aging. Our medical team will assess if HBOT is right for you.
Is hyperbaric oxygen therapy safe?
Yes, HBOT is safe when properly supervised. At MD Hyperbaric, treatments are protocol-driven, medically overseen, and administered by certified staff. Our Medical Director and onsite Safety Director ensure every session is carefully monitored, and we continuously update our protocols based on the latest research to prioritize patient safety.
How long is each session?
Typically, most treatment sessions are approximately 60 minutes, though some conditions may require up to 90 or 120 minutes. Pressurization and depressurization may add about 20 minutes to the appointment, so you should plan for about 90 minutes for your visit.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on the condition being treated. Some patients may benefit from a few sessions, while others may require a more extended treatment plan. A typical protocol will involve 10-40 daily sessions to build up oxygen in the cells. Our Medical Director will recommend a specific treatment plan to address your goals and needs.
How should I prepare prior to a session?
Prior to treatment, please try to avoid alcohol or carbonated drinks. It is best to avoid smoking and other tobacco products during your treatment period, as they may interfere with the body's ability to transport oxygen. Otherwise, there are no restrictions for food or activity before or after your treatment. We encourage you to have healthy meals and stay hydrated.
What should I wear or bring to my session?
Most patients find HBOT sessions relaxing. You will rest comfortably in a 7.5-foot-long steel chamber, breathing 100% pure oxygen through a mask. During pressurization and depressurization, you may feel pressure changes similar to airplane travel. A trained technician will monitor you throughout the session.
Why is a HBOT treatment session called a dive?
The term "dive" is used because the process simulates the experience of a deep-sea dive in a pressurized environment. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has deep roots in diving as an important therapy for treating divers experiencing decompression sickness.
What type of hyperbaric chamber do you use?
At MD Hyperbaric, we use the FDA-cleared OxyHealth Fortius420, a spacious hard-shell chamber delivering 100% medical-grade oxygen via mask. It operates up to 3.0 ATA, allows tailored pressures, supports air breaks, and includes three windows for comfort and safety.
What is the difference between hard-shell and soft-shell hyperbaric chambers?
At MD Hyperbaric, we use hard-shell chambers that deliver 100% medical-grade oxygen at higher pressures for superior therapeutic benefits. Soft-shell chambers operate at lower pressures without medical-grade oxygen, making them less effective for medical treatment.
How do I know if I am eligible for HBOT?
Our team will assess your medical history and specific circumstances through an intake process. An initial evaluation with certified staff and the Medical Director will determine your eligibility for HBOT.
Do I need a referral from a doctor to receive HBOT?
No referral is needed. Our Medical Director will review your intake forms and prescribe HBOT if appropriate. If you have a prescription from a provider, we will coordinate with them. For serious health conditions, we may recommend getting clearance from your physician.
Do you accept insurance?
HBOT is generally not covered by insurance, though most FSA/HSA plans allow reimbursement. MD Hyperbaric is an out-of-network provider, so patients pay out-of-pocket. If you have one of the 14 insurance-approved conditions, reimbursement may be possible. We can provide a superbill and receipt to help you submit a claim.
How much does it cost?
This is an out-of-pocket treatment and we offer a variety of pricing options designed to suit different medical and financial needs. Patients can choose pay-as-you-go or package options at reduced rates when purchased upfront. Please contact us to discuss pricing and options. We accept cash, credit, or check.
